The Agony of Restless Nights

Restlessness can possess you like a vice during the night. Every noise becomes amplified, every shadow takes on an ominous form. You toss and turn, your concerns multiplying, desperate for some elusive tranquility. Sleep, once a gentle sanctuary, has become a distant fantasy. The hours crawl by, each one an eternity of agony.

We long for an/a/some escape, a place/safety/shelter where the pain/suffering/anguish can fade/disappear/evaporate, but often/always/sometimes the darkness persists/holds tight/remains. We must face/confront/stand against the emptiness/void/terror, and discover/remember/unearth the powerful spirit that lies within/deep inside/at our core.

The throes of oblivion was a siren's call, a searing promise of release. To succumb in its depths was to silence the incessant noise of existence. The life's sharp edges dissolved under the spell of its calm.

To truly long oblivion was to yearn for a temporary respite from the burden of being.
